Hogan & Hartson LLP announced that Thomas B. Leary has
been awarded the 2007 Miles Kirkpatrick Award from the Federal Trade
Commission (FTC).
The award, which was presented to Leary on December
6, 2007, is awarded annually “to honor the commitment, talent, and
contribution of individuals who, throughout their public and private
careers, have made lasting and significant contributions to the FTC.”
Leary, was a partner at Hogan & Hartson from 1983-1999 and is
currently of counsel. He served as a Commissioner with the FTC for six
years prior to re-joining Hogan & Hartson in 2006. He has almost 50
years of experience as an antitrust lawyer, with a practice that
focuses on high-profile antitrust, international competition, trade
regulation, and consumer protection matters for a large range of
clients.
As an FTC Commissioner, Leary’s opinions, articles, and speeches made
original contributions in important competition matters. These include,
the application of the antitrust laws to the health care industry, the
antitrust/intellectual property interface, the bipartisan enforcement
of the merger laws, improvements in the merger review process,
refinement of the role of efficiencies, and the links between
competition and consumer protection law.
